Remember Me

“For I received from the Lord what I also delivered to you, that the Lord Jesus on the night when he was betrayed took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it, and said, ‘This is my body which is for you. Do this in remembrance of me.’ In the same way also the cup, after supper, saying, ‘This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.’ For as often as you eat this bread and drink the cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.” (1 Corinthians 11:23-26)

If we were to be honest with ourselves, Christ really doesn’t ask that much of us, nothing compared to what the world and those in it are always demanding of us. He simply told us to love Him and to love one another as He loves us and for us to remember Him. How hard could that be? Well, by looking around at this society and how far those in it have grown apart from Him, you would think He was demanding the world of us. But instead, He simply asks us to love Him with all our hearts and love others and remember Him and all that He gave up for us in order for us to gain eternal life with Him in heaven.

We have no problems remembering family, friends, co-workers, even those we’ve never even met, yet, how is it that we find it so difficult to stop and remember the One who gave up His comfort of heaven, to walk among us to only be scorned, hated, beat, and finally put to death in the most horrendous fashion man has ever created to kill a person. Yet only 60% of Americans believe and probably only half of them TRULY believe.  And we wonder why there is so much darkness in the world today. Well, when you allow the things of this world to snuff out the true Light of the world, what do you expect? The evil one couldn’t be happier right now. He relishes in seeing God’s people getting further and further away from Him. The more things that are against God that Satan can make us focus on, the happier it makes him and the closer he knows we’re are getting to losing our eternal souls to his domain.

How can people love Him, love others and remember Him when they find themselves surrounded by things that are an affront to God (deliberate insult to the Creator) these are just a few things that insult the decency of our God:

  • Abortion
  • Porn
  • Doing anything that causes a child to sin
  • Child abuse
  • Transgenderism (God created us to be who He made us, not what we think or feel we are)
  • Warping the minds of innocent children into believing that they are bad because of their skin color or they’re an oppressor or oppressed because of the color of their skin
  • Exposing children to immoral acts and teaching them it’s a good thing
  • Putting things of this world ahead of the Creator of all of us

Those are just a few things that insult our Creator deeply, these are things among others that keep us from honoring Him by simply remembering Him whenever we sit down to eat, or when we rise in the morning and lie down at night before closing our eyes. All the clutter that we carry around with us that’s been stacked upon us by a society that takes a knee to empty promises and distorted beliefs and laughs at the idea that there is a God watching them. Is crippling us spiritually.

It’s time that we renew ourselves through the body and blood of Jesus Christ that which He gave up freely to show us the depth of His love for each one of us. Even if we scorn, laugh, spit upon Him, He still loves us and weeps for us when He sees our weakness, brokenness, confusion, and the empty holes in our hearts, that He knows He’s the only one who can fill those holes, if we would just say no to the things of this world and say yes to Him and we can do that by taking the time to simply remember Him, love Him above all others, and love others the way He has loved us.

The most important thing to realize is that no matter where you are in your life, how low you might be, He’s right there with you, waiting for you to turn around and let Him be the focal point of your life because no matter what you think, it’s never too late to turn back to Him.

So love Him, love others, and remember Him every single day and then wait for the changes that will come with those three simple things.
